Unlike other enzymes found elsewhere, such as in flora and fauna, marine enzymes are adapted to function in the depths of the ocean with temperatures as low as -20C. When subjected to room temperature they become super-active and more powerful than other land-derived enzymes. When used in skincare, marine enzymes have many effects, depending on concentration and type. These include smoothing, lifting, exfoliating, anti-pollution, hydrating, purifying and protecting, calming and exfoliating.

Dr BRAGI IS A REVOLUTIONARY SKINCARE BRAND INCORPORATING PATENTED MARINE ENZYME TECHNOLOGY, HIS UNIQUE DISCOVERY AND 'SUPER-ACTIVE' INGREDIENT.

"My formulations are nothing less than a paradigm shift in skincare. I have dedicated my life to the research and study of marine enzymes and their abilities. I have absolutely no doubt that you will be amazed at the improvements my formulations can make to your skin." Dr Jón Bragi Bjarnason PhD

THE LATE DR. JÓN BRAGI BJARNASON PHD WAS PROFESSOR OF BIOCHEMISTRY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ICELAND AND ONE OF THE WORLD'S LEADING ENZYMOLOGISTS.

The diverse marine life of Iceland’s abundant sea waters inspired Dr Bragi to scientifically explore marine enzymes. He dedicated his life to the study and therapeutic application of marine enzymes, achieving numerous awards, as well as global patents for his discoveries.

His extensive research initially focused on the value of enzymes for arthritis and wound healing. He later expanded to dermatology.

Clinical evidence of their effectiveness compelled Dr Bragi to develop a unique line of skincare based on his advanced marine enzyme technology.

Enzymes are biocatalysts, essential protein molecules that dramatically speed up cellular processes in all living beings. All harmful microorganisms (bacteria, viruses, fungi etc.) are essentially protein based. The marine enzymes used in Dr Bragi's patented formulation specifically target these proteins by disabling them and therefore protecting the skin. Their unique ability to penetrate the skin’s epidermis layer also encourages cellular rejuvenation and cleansing from within.

Dr Bragi’s patented marine enzymes are like no other cosmetic ingredient available, unlike other enzymes used in skincare, marine enzymes are adapted to function in the depths of the ocean with temperatures reaching as low as -2°C. When subjected to body temperature, they become ‘super-active’ and more powerful than other enzymes.

Dr Bragi’s marine enzyme formulation was patented in 1999 for cosmetic and pharmaceutical use, and continues to be the subject of clinical studies around the world.

Enzyme activity temperature comparison

This graph shows the relative activity of Dr Bragi’s marine enzymes in comparison to non-marine enzymes used in other products.

The marine enzyme dramatically outperforms the "other enzyme" making it far more beneficial for use in skincare.
